- Operating authority Active, revoked, or lapsed — read from the L&I carrier file, not the census status code.
- Insurance on file Liability and cargo filings, with the coverage amount where FMCSA reports one.
- Out-of-service orders 274 currently in force. The most serious thing on a carrier's record.
- Broker or carrier Whether a company also holds authority to hand your move to someone else.
- Movers near you Search by ZIP, city or state. Proximity filters the list — it never ranks it.
- Complaint lookup A direct search of the federal complaint database for each carrier, at its own USDOT number.

How we label a carrier
Three states, defined the same way every time
No score and no stars — a five-star rating would imply a precision safety data doesn’t have. Every carrier lands in one of three states, drawn strictly from what FMCSA reports.
- Active & Authorized
Active interstate household goods authority on file, with no open out-of-service order, no lapsed insurance filing and no adverse safety rating.
